X Factor USA’s Stacy Francis Clashed With Whitney Houston At Her Final Public Performance

X Factor USA contestant Stacy Francis says she regrets that she clashed with Whitney Houston on the night of her final public performance.

The I Will Always Love You star, who died on Saturday (February 11) at the age of 48, almost came to blows with Francis on Thursday evening after she failed to recognize the former X Factor contestant.

During her stint on the show Stacey Francis named Whitney Houston as an inspiration to her and the two even appeared on stage together back in 1999.

But when they met again at an LA pre-Grammy event hosted by singer Kelly Price on Thursday (February 9), Houston failed to recognise Stacy. R&B star Ray J tried to defend the X Factor conestant but eye witnesses say Houston “got belligerent” and “hands were raised.”

After the clash, Stacy Francis said she still had the utmost respect for Whitney. When she heard about the iconic singer’s death she sent Twitter messages lamented how their last meeting had gone.

“This is a sad time for me. I loved Whitney Houston with all my heart. She was such an amazing musical influence for me,” she said earlier today, adding,

“I deeply regret the events that led to Thursday’s misunderstanding, but I respect and love her more than I can say… Whitney maintained a genuineness in this difficult profession and I will always admire and respect the courage that she lived.

“At this painful time, I would like to express my support and most sincere condolences to Whitney’s family in learning of her sudden death… I will always remember her to be a deeply humane person and wish her spirit to rest in peace.”

X Factor USA boss Simon Cowell confirmed at the weekend that he had been  in talks with Whitney Houston about her possibly joining the show’s judging panel.
