Simon Cowell doesn’t often admit he is wrong, but he has said he made a mistake in opening his “big mouth” and saying he would consider audiences under 20 million people as a failure for The X Factor USA shows.
Having reportedly claimed in previous interviews that he would be disappointed if the première of the X Factor USA didn’t achieve 20 million viewers, Simon Cowell was forced to do some fast talking when the première weekend opened with and audience of 12.2 million (first episode) and 12.1 million (second episode) viewers.
However, with a little quick thinking and some fancy words to back track, the media mogul has said that the premiere weekend of The X Factor USA actually met his expectations. How, when there appears to be an 8 million shortfall in what he hoped for and what he got? Ahh, because he was aiming for 20 million viewers for both shows combined.
Right, Simon, so shall we just forget about the fact that the vast majority of people watching the second show will have watched the first show? Shall we just count them twice to make you happy?
What do you think of the X Factor USA so far? Is it meeting your expectations?
