Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez will be the hosts. We know that from last week’s announcement. But what we really want to know is what will the contestants be like? Who are the early favorites?
Jillian Jensen was looking good but failed to make it to the live shows. Shock, horror! Jeffrey Gutt was also cut before judges’ houses. And whatever happened to Panda Ross?
But there are some shining lights and some real dark horses. I’m sure some more hidden scandal will make it out too, as The X Factor struggles to compete with American Idol and The Voice.
What do you make of the judging panel? I’m not sure I look forward to any of the talent show judging this season. Here things seem forced and over on American Idol I will miss Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez so, so much!
But back to the X Factor. What’s our top 16 looking like for the live shows?
Beatrice Miller. This talented 13-year-old is mentored by Britney Spears. She might score well with kids her age if she gets to pick the right songs.
Carly Rose Sonenclar will also be mentored by Britney Spears. Surely she has to be a frontrunner with that massive voice which allowed her to belt out classics like “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone. She’s mature and has a strong voice. Britney needs to keep her song choices current and then she should do well.
Arin Ray is also to be mentored by Britney Spears now he has returned from last season without the other nine members of inTENsity. He certainly looks good, so if he can put in some god vocal performances (which unfortunately is far from certain) the teens will love him and carry him far in this competition.
The last person to be mentored by Britney Spears this season is Diamond White. An early favorite, Diamond had improved with each round and if she can keep it real, feel the songs and help us feel them too, a spot in the finale seems pretty certain.
On to the contestants mentored by L.A. Reid:
David Correy has a good back story which endeared him to the audience. I think he’s a bit karaoke and his vocal mannerisms are likely to drive me insane if he continues to overplay them but I imagine he will have a strong and loyal fanbase.
Jason Brock is so over the top and dramatic! But he makes people listen to him. If he can drop some of his most effected habits and actually deliver a song with real emotion he could go all the way. He has the voice for it.
Tate Stevens is a country boi and we all know that country fans are big voters. Could he be another Scotty McCrery (oh I hope so!)? Yes, if he can find his own spin to ut on the songs. One to watch, definitely.
Vino Alan is one of those dark horses I mentioned earlier. He needs to build up his confidence but he’ll have time, because I expect him to stick around for a few rounds yet.
Judge and mentor Demi Lovato has some strong talent in her group.
Jennel Garcia is attracting a lot of media attention, but she needs to be more current to really make the most of her time on The X Factor. A potential winner, so long as she doesn’t rely on old classics all the time.
Willie Jones is an interesting one. A little bit of country with looks straight out of the 80s. He has to remember his lyrics, though! Technically good, he just needs to relax and let the music flow more. If he can do that, he will give Tate Stevens a battle royal.
Do you agree with my take on the X Factor live shows? Who are you most interested to see?
