The X Factor USA contestant Rachel Crow overcame a tough start in life, she has revealed. She began life as a crack baby. Now she hopes to inspire her fans who have had difficult childhoods to overcome their problems and follow their dreams.
Rachel’s adoptive mother, Barbara Crow, told the New York Post that Rachel (now 13) was a crack baby when she was born and she said she “suffered a lot of abuse.”
That led to Social Services placing Rachel with Barbara and her husband Kelly as a foster child when she was just six months old. The couple went on to adopt her one year later.
Barbara says Rachel’s past has not affected her and she never gets sad about it. It has just made her who she is today. The identity of Rachel’s biological parents, who had their parental rights terminated, is unknown to her adoptive family.
Rachel, who is being mentored Simon Cowell on The X Factor USA, added that she is not interested in tracing her birth parents as ,
“I have two amazing parents already.”
But if she won the $5 million prize on The X Factor she would like to help other foster children realize their own goals and dreams.
