Cowell’s girls category of Rachel Crow, Drew Ryniewicz, Tiah Tolliver, SimoneBattle and Melanie Amaro gave their first live performances with the X Factor Top 17 this week.
The girls’ mentor, Simon Cowell, told Access Hollywod,
“I was happy with the show and more happy that my contestants just killed everyone else’s. It was so one-nil! We are so doing better, I am thrilled.”
All the other judges had to eliminate one of their own category after the first of their live X Factor performance, except Simon. As he had opted to take an extra singer, Melanie Amaro, with him to the live stage, he had the unenviable task of eliminating two of his own acts after just one performance.
However, he was adamant that it made it tougher on him and he did not have an advantage over the other judges because of his decision.
“I think it was tougher for me. I had more to work with, I had to lose two, not one. I think I had the tough job,” he said, about having to eliminate two of his contestants.
He eventually opted to send home Simone Battle (an early favorite) and Tiah Tolliver (perhaps and easier choice.) He was thrilled he kept Melanie Amaro in and stuck his neck out to say she could win the whole competition.
Do you agree that Simon Cowell’s girls did best on the X Factor USA live shows? Who were your favorites?
The X Factor returns Wednesday (November 2) at 8/7c on Fox.
