The record label announced on Wednesday (January 18) via the social networking site Facebook that Canty had received a record deal.
In response, Canty released a statement which said,
“I am very blessed and grateful to God for the opportunity to become a part of the Epic family.”
He said he was excited about working with LA Reid, who had been his mentor on the show. He said he is ready to work hard.
This is history in the making, let’s go!”
Canty was one of the contestants who auditioned via YouTube for the first season of the Fox series.
The singer took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the deal.
“Thank you!!!! Mama I made it!” he Tweeted.
Canty is one of several X Factor USA contestants to receive a record contract but the show has yet to emulate the success of its rival American Idol. From last season alone, seven finalists have so far received recording contracts.
