The auditions are done, the Boot Camp is over…let’s get down to some real singing with the potential winners for the show. The judges each got to find out what group they were coaching. Nicole has the over 30s, Paula has the groups, Simon has the girls and LA got the boys. And they each seemed pleased with their groups.
Then it was time to inform the contestants of whose house they were at. As a group, they stood outside the front door of their judge’s house and had to wait until they opened up the door to see who they got. The girls flew to France and stood outside until Simon opened up the door to them. They were ecstatic.
The boys stood outside of a house in the Hamptons and waited until LA opened the door. He boldly told them the winner was amongst them! That made the boys happy. The over 30s anxiously stood outside the door to a large house in Malibu. Nicole opened the door and they were all screaming. Last, the groups – which is a very large group – stood outside in Santa Barbara until Paula opened up her door.
Everyone seemed thrilled with their choices. But, they could only celebrate for so long. It was time for business. Each singer or group got a chance to perform before their mentor and a guest. No one else watched the performance and there was no critique given to the performer. Once the performer left, the mentor and the guest they picked discussed the performance and if that person has what it takes to be a superstar.
Rihanna was a guest with LA and helped him critique the men. Enrique Iglesias sat and watched with Nicole. Pharrell listened to the groups with Paula. Simon had picked Mariah Carey to fly to France and sit in with him on the critiquing, but Mother Nature got in the way and she couldn’t make it.
Each artist got their turn and the acts rotated between the judges house. It seemed awkward that the judges didn’t say anything to them other than thanks. But, you could tell by a few comments who they really liked and who they didn’t think had the caliber to be a super star or be awarded a $5 million dollar prize. And really, some of the singers were either nervous in the smaller setting or they didn’t practice so much. Many of them were great, but a couple – just a couple – were a little bit worse.
The X Factor is starting to show in a few people. But will their age hold them down. Rachel – the 14 year old – has the personality and the voice, but can she handle the pressure? She’s only 14! And then there is the 12 year old rapper who already has an attitude. How will he did under the pressure of the spotlight being so young?
So, the show was entertaining and we got to see snippets of songs…but let’s get some real action going. Where the smart critiquing from Simon? The funny snippets from Paula? Let’s get back to competing…but, not yet. Another two hours of performing for the judges before we even hear if there are any eliminations coming up soon…
