It’s the fourth and final night of auditions for X Factor and they head to Newark, New Jersey to get their last contestants. The contestants line up and the process gets going. Featured first is fourteen year old Brian from Brooklyn. LA asks him why he doesn’t have a record deal yet and he says it is because of politics. The kid has some sass in him and acts like he is jumping on Simon, but it is actually part of his routine. He goes in to a routine and the crowd loves it, but Simon doesn’t seem too impressed. Nicole and Paula are certainly in to it. LA loved him and wished he walked through his doors at Def Jam Records a few years ago. Looks like he gets four yes’s.
Will the rest of the talent be this good? It seems like quite a few acts are making it through the process. And they all seem to have genuine talent. Who thought there were this many talented people left to audition for another singing show? This is shaping up to be quite a competition when it starts next week.
There are a few rejections, a few touching moments, but then more rejections. Did the best people show up first? Then a woman who shows promise gets on stage and her singing resembles more of a drunken karaoke performance. Simon can’t stop laughing. Is that good? Nope. A couple more tone deaf people show up and then someone with a bit of attitude shows up. She stops and asks the crowd how can she sing when they keep booing? Buh bye.
Then the parade of tone deaf people continues. People in the audience actually cover their ears when Maya gets on stage and slaughters a Queen song. Simon is nice to her, which is a change. He seems to be in a much better mood than where they left off last night with Nicole, Simon and Paula all at odds with each other.
Next up is Cari, a 17 year old beauty who shows lots of promise. Paula seems to like her, LA and Simon both show intrigue. But is it enough to get at least three yes’s? Simon said she was boring, but the other three judges all gave her a yes and then Simon did too. But Paula told her to make it more lively. A few more people make it past the stage and to the competition. There is a lot of young talent that could be signed, just from the auditions.
But then Ausem, a young duo from nearby who has a huge fan base in the crowd, get up there and sing. Austin, the boy half of the duo has much better talent than Emily does. LA says so out loud and Nicole hints at splitting them up. Emily looks frightened on stage and near tears. But, they have two yes’s and just need a third…Nicole gives it to them. They aren’t split up…yet… Unless she improves her vocals, they will be one of the first ones booted off…just sayin’.
Tora, a tattoed college student who likes race cars impresses the judges with her enthusiasm and look. She says she is doing a Jackson 5 song, after promising she has big vocals. Does she deliver? She can dance around and entertain, but do the judges like her? Yup. Simon said he absolutely loved her. She has something else besides jus the voice. She passes with all four votes.
Jor-el, a male who credits Madonna as being a big influence, gets on stage and sings Madonna’s Starlight. He tries a few moves, but they kinda….gross you out. Simon says the singing is terrible, but LA says they were entertained. Four no votes.
A couple more rejects get up on the stage and wow the judges with their strange moves. Then a couple gets up there and their act looks like a porn production! Ric White gets up on stage and finally – someone who can sing. But does he make it through?
An all male group called the Stereo Hogzz gets on stage and has lots of energy. They formed their band to stay out of trouble when they were in school. Can they keep staying out of trouble and move on? LA looks interested, but Paula ends the singing. Simon says they are over rehearsed, but they end up with four yes’s.
Then a hottie shows up from Nashville and he says he already has a strike against him because of his looks. Is he too cocky? Brennan says he has been honing his skills and will sing a song he wrote himself. Simon laughs him off…but can he change his mind? Yes. Oh yes. Two words and the women are swooning. There’s star power behind him. Nicole and Paula obviously like him. Can he get a third vote? He has all four!
A bunch of yes’s go through and several no’s. Lots of great acts have been allowed in…who is your favorite so far?
Sixteen year old Jazzmyn came out with her lack of confidence and had Simon convinced she would bomb. But she wowed everyone and LA said she was a star!
Bootcamp starts next week…who will shine?
