X Factor continued with their auditions in Miami and the judges were in for a rude awakening. The first few acts were nothing less than awful and they actually thought they were awesome. They all asked for second songs to prove their vocal talents. The judges all gave them no’s and there were tears and fits. Even the family members were in the back arguing and swearing and causing a scene.
What’s up with Miami? The judges commented that Miami was feisty. Simon apologized to the group because he jinxed it when he said they didn’t have to worry about Miami. No one was even making it through the cut until the middle of the day in Miami. Nick Voss was the first one with potential in their second session. Does he impress the judges?
Simon said he absolutely loved him. That takes a lot for Simon to admit! They took a vote and he got four yes’s to get him through Miami as the very first one to make it as a finalist.
There was more screaming, more lackluster appearances and even more freakiness. One singer they listened to said she could call ghosts. Well, once they gave her four no’s, the lights kept blinking off, there were electric glitches and Nicole was freaked out thinking there were real ghosts called in when they rejected her.
Another singer was passed to the next round, but Miami only has two stacked up. Until a girl band goes through with a lot of energy and a great message. And then a teacher wows them with her voice. Miami is suddenly starting to look up for the judges. Then a music instructor who was hot looking wowed Nicole and got through for the next round.
A couple more people are impressing the judges and making it through. Miami has really turned its reputation around. But I don’t think there are any people who will wow like the contestants who made it through during last night’s auditions. Until a young woman named Melanie got on stage and did a marvelous rendition of Beyonce’s Listen. LA told her she had magnificent talent and had the total package. Nicole was moved to tears and Paula said she hadn’t ever heard talent like that at an audition. Her singing knocked their socks off! Maybe there will be a real competition going on when the auditions are over!
The show then heads to Dallas, where the next round continues on. Lots of great stars came out of Texas, so is there any more real talent left over? It was hot outside, is the talent hot inside too?
The first act is Johnny Rogers who has some wild hair. He says he is going to dance and that girls impress him all the time. Will he impress anyone else? Simon said he looked like Barbie’s boyfriend Ken…but he didn’t get it. His own song started and it had potential until he started to dance…and look ridiculous. He actually thought he could sing…and dance. So much for Dallas. Then someone came out and collapsed on stage.
Dexter got on stage and was going to do Sex Machine by James Brown. Simon thinks he knows what is coming…but can Dexter prove him wrong and actually sing? Nope. They predicted what he was going to sound like and said he was a tribute sound. Paula said she would have liked to hear a bit more originality. Simon thinks for a minute and says he has one more chance. 15 seconds to sing something a cappella and impress them with his singing. After a pause, he does it. What do they think?
He sang It’s a Man’s World by James Brown and the crowd loved it. The judges don’t know he is homeless and living out of his car, with only enough clothes to wear on stage. He got four yes’s and moves on. Will this be his chance to turn his life around?
Xander Alexander gets in front of the camera and appears a bit cocky. He thinks $5 million is good, but when he is worth $100 million. Can he back up what he says? He shows some attitude and asks Simon if he can sing now? He’s zinged Simon three times, called him Simone, asked if he wore anything but gray and said he wouldn’t sing without a microphone stand. He suddenly appears nervous and the swagger is gone when he is faced with real questioning at his ability. Simon cuts him off and asks if he has a different song. Luckily, he appears to sing the next one a little bit and Simon calls him by the right name. But he blew it when the audience turned on him…too late to apologize. Guess the $100 million will go to someone else.
