Real life Barbie, Valeria Lukyanova, has intrigued the world since her high profile story to resemble the famous Mattel doll reached fever pitch last week. Many believe the 21-year-old Ukrainian model is a hoax with tons of digitally enhanced images, but her Facebook page boasts over 92,000 likes and new videos are surfacing almost daily of the unique looking woman.
A Canadian man who lives in Uxbridge by the name of Tony Oxley, claims Lukyanova is a scam artist. She tried to coax him into sending her money to fly to Canada to be with him.
“It’s all a scam and it is fake,” Oxley said. “This same woman tried to get money from me a couple weeks ago.”
Oxley said he played along with the real-life Barbie to see where it would go. She sent him more Facebook photos then she began asking for money, he claims.
“She then wanted $900 to buy airline tickets to come to Canada to be with me,” Oxley continued.
Like a lot of people worldwide, he doesn’t think Valeria Luykanova is the real thing.
“I don’t think she is real, and I am convinced she is a scam targeting people. People should be careful and not send money to anyone they meet by e-mail,” Oxley warned.
Tony Oxley alleges Lukyanova wanted money sent to her by Western Union instead of just reserving her a plane ticket. If that’s true, it’s definitely a suspicious story.
Is the real-life Barbie an actual woman or is she an elaborate hoax? ABC’s “Good Morning America” had a special on the young woman known to resemble the world’s most famous doll. Her eyes are glassy and have a blank appearance with a body almost spooky looking. If Barbie were a real-life woman she would have to be 5’9″, 100 pounds, have a 38DD breast, and an 18″ waist. Valeria Lukyanova’s measurements aren’t known, but she’s the closest living thing to a plastic doll.
