The troubled star was taken to a London hospital after he reportedly took an overdose of pills at his home. He has been fighting his alcohol addiction for the last few years.
Handsome actor Jonathan Rhys Myers, who plays Henry VIII in the popular show, was found semi-conscious in his home in Maida Vale, Central London on Tuesday evening (June 28).
Paramedics rushed to the address following an emergency call. However, Rhys Myers refused treatment at the scene for around 30 minutes. So paramedics were forced to call the police.
A source told the UK Sun Newspaper: “This is very sad. It was the opinion of those present that he tried to take his life.”
The actor was eventually taken to hospital. But he was discharged in the early hours of Wednesday morning. However, he refused to speak with reporters.
A neighbor of the Tudors star revealed,
“I saw the ambulance arriving and was worried to death – Jonathan is a lovely guy – you see him all the time in the street. He says hello and is very pleasant. I hope he is fine.”
Earlier this month, Jonathan Rhys Myers checked into a rehab in South Africa. That is the fifth time he has attended a clinic to help deal with his addiction problems.
The Irish born star’s film credits include “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Alexander.” He has also modeled for the designer label Hugo Boss.
He has recently opened up about his battle with alcohol, admitting: “When I do drink I’m like Bambi. I’m all over the place like a 16-year-old kid.”
On Wednesday night, police at Scotland Yard in London confirmed: “Officers were called by London Ambulance Service following reports of a man refusing treatment. The man was taken to hospital.”
