Tony Scott was allegedly suffering from inoperable brain cancer.
The Top Gun director appeared to take his own life yesterday (August 19) by jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles.
A source supposedly close to Scott has since told ABC News that Scott had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
It has been reported that a suicide note was found in Scott’s car, which was parked on one of the eastbound lanes of the Vincent Thomas Bridge.
Another note was found at Scott’s office.
“I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away,” said the director’s spokesman Simon Halls.
“The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time.”
Scott (68) is survived by wife Donna Scott, whom he married in 1994, and twin sons Max and Frank.
