Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce

Movie star couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing after five years of marriage.

Cruise (49) who recently starred in the movie ‘Rock of Ages’, married Holmes (33) in November 2006 and their daughter, Suri, is six-years-old.

Holmes’s attorney Jonathan Wolfe said,

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

A spokesman for Tom Cruise told People,

“Katie has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”

So the divorce is Katie’s idea.

Apparently, she is unhappy that he acting career stalled upon her marriage and she is no longer content to live in Tom’s shadow. He was also said to be very hands on regarding Katie’s movie career and she has had enough of that.

In addition the couple were arguing about how best to raise their daughter, Suri. Katie is said to be stricter and keen that Suri have a solid routine. She also wants the little girl to go to school and be able to build friendships with her peers. In contrast, Tom wants her to have less discipline, like his elder two children, Connor and Isabella. In effect he wants her to be treated like a mini adult while Katie wants her to be treated like a child.

But one thing Tom and Katie won’t be arguing about it money. They signed a pre-nup which has it all figured out. Who takes care of Suri may be a bigger bone of contention. Katie wants sole custody.
