After last night’s X Factor USA and rain delay in an NLCS baseball game we got to find out this year’s X Factor USA Top 16 – those lucky (and some of them even talented) people who made it to the live shows, the bit we are all really most interested in. Two acts were axed from each category last night.
Here they are in full (including a SPOILER for the Young Adults and Groups, that we won’t see aired until next episode):
TEENS: Diamond White, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Arin Ray, Beatrice Miller (Reed Demming, James Tanner out).
Carly Rose didn’t want to go back to eighth grade. “It just sounds awful when you think about it.” So thankfully she won’t be going back to school just yet. If ever. Arin Ray got a cheek kiss from mentor Britney, so is he her favorite? Reed Demming showed his age (13) by calling his X Factor journey “the climax of my life.” Don’#t worry – there’ll be others, Reed! He was so sweet to the others who were chosen for the live shows, in sharp contrast to James, who simply told them “Peace Out.”
THE OVER 25s: David Correy, Jason Brock, Tate Stevens, Vino Alan (Daryl Black, Tara Simon out).
It’s pretty clear that L.A. Reid is not liking the fact he has to mentor the golden oldies this season. And am I the only one not only getting tired but deeply suspicious of David Correy’s references to how he’s only on the show to connect with his birth mother? I wouldn’t mind betting that she’s already been found and is waiting in the wings somewhere, to be brought out either when he’s eliminated or better yet, when he wins the whole show. Vino Alan’s interviews should be interesting because the more stressed he gets the more he seems to growl. “Just send me through man I’m ready to rise,” he aggressively demanded of L.A. Reid. But then, he must be pretty desperate as he says without The X Factor he’d be out on the streets. Am I being mean in thinking that’s not a good enough reason to keep him around?
I love how Daryl told L.A. Reid that he made a mistake in cutting him, and managed to hardly make it sound arrogant at all. In contrast, Tara took news of her rejection very badly indeed. “He just got rid of someone who could be Kelly Clarkson, or Carrie Underwood, or Christina Aguilera,” she bitched. Somehow, I doubt it; don’t you?
Here’s the spoiler for the other two groups, who we have yet to see handpicked for stardom by their mentors until the X Facto star rises again:
YOUNG ADULTS: Jennel Garcia, Willie Jones, Paige Thomas, CeCe Frey (Jillian Jensen, Nick Youngerman out)
My surprise there was the cutting of Jillian Jensen, but how about you?
GROUPS: LYLAS, Lyric 145, Sister C, Emblem3 (Playback, Dope Crisis out)
What do you think of the X Factor Top 16?
