The X Factor USA 2011: The Top 12!

Filed under : Celebrity News, Featured

It’s time to see the acts perform live at long last. The acts will all get to perform, but of the 17, 5 of them are going home tonight. 3 from each category will remain and the top 12 move on to perform again next week.

The boys get to perform first and after they all get to have a chance, LA will deliberate. One will be sent home. Astro, the 14 year old gets to go first. Talk about having to work out the nerves! That young and up the very first spot on the very first live show! Wow. And he came out and seems to be impressing the judges.

Chris is up next and he is still sober. Can he do as well as Astro? He has a lot of stress on him as well, as he is trying to get sober, but competing on the national stage. He seemed to sing well, but the song didn’t have the energy that Astro did. Will that hurt him?

Phillip got up there and sang with energy and a lot of dancing girls. He took his jazz roots and proved he could do pop music too. The judges all loved him, but Simon didn’t like his song choice.

Marcus is the final men’s performer. Can he measure up to the other three, that the judges all loved? Wow. This is going to be tough. He has dancers and the whole bit to look excellent too. Simon loved him too. So, who do you think LA will send home and who gets to stay? LA is sending Phillip from the boys group home first.

Astro, Marcus and Chris move on. Was that who you thought?

Paula’s groups come up next to perform. First to hit the stage is the Stereo Hoggz and they have really improved the moves and the outfits. They did a great job. And Simon even said so, even though he wanted to bite his tongue.

Next up? The Brewer Boys. Can their sound keep improving to match the talent on the stage? Ouch. Simon and LA both questioned the song and the choreography. Nicole said she thought they were cute, but didn’t comment on their ability.

InTENsity is next on the stage. Can all ten of them step it up to sing and perform in front of these judges? And they are all very young, too. Will nerves work against them? I don’t think so, but the music seems to overpower all of their voices. It seemed like High School Musical and not a winner of a $5 million dollars.

Last up is Lakoda Rayne. They seem to be able to sing, but there is no real dancing or choreography for them. There’s a few head moves and arm waves, but nothing else besides standing and singing. I guess Simon is going to nail them! Gasp, he didn’t! He loves them. Wow. Which group is going home?

Paula is sending the Brewer Boys home.

Moving on from the groups is Stereo Hoggz, Lakoda Rayne and InTENsity.

Nicole’s over 30s singers are coming up next. On stage is Dexter, who is homeless. He’s had some shaky performances before…what will he deliver tonight? He’s singing a Katy Perry song and he brings some energy onstage. Will the judges all like him? I think Simon is going to rip him apart…but he doesn’t again. They compliment him, but he still seems a little rough around the edges. ..Again.

LeRoy is up, the singer who is almost 60 years old. He has Nicole already moved to tears. He sings wonderfully. Is it enough to move him on?

Stacy takes the stage and she looks great. A new hair cut, a bit more confidence. She looks great and she can sing like a star. But Simon did not like the song or her style. He said she is a church singer and not what Nicole picked out. So far, Simon does not like anything Nicole has done with her acts. Hmmmm.

Last person for Nicole is Josh, the burrito slinger. Josh has wowed us before, but the song isn’t really working. He didn’t even move around on the stage. Paula and LA love him, and get this – Simon loves the song! So, who is Nicole going to send home? Dexter.

The acts moving on include Stacy, Josh and LeRoy.

Simon’s girls are going to be taking the stage and since we are live, the show is running over! Surprise, surprise. Simone comes up and talks to the crowd and Simon before starting to sing. Is there a technical glitch with the music? Seems off. Or is it the rainbow leotard she is wearing? LA and Nicole both thrash Simon over it. Ouch.

Rachel Crow comes up to sing. How will the youngest contestant do? She does some old Motown music and it suits her style. She has a set of pipes on her, but is it enough? Paula and Nicole don’t like the song, but still think she was awesome.

Drew takes the stage, another young contestant. She gets the Fame sang and makes it her own, in a different sort of way. Interesting. No dancers. No movement. Will Nicole like it or will she slam Simon again? She loved it!

Tia is up next and Simon dedicates her performance to “Cruella” and “DeVille”. Let’s just start a fight now! She sings a Eurythmics song in a different method, similar to Drew (who they loved). Will they like Tia’s version? Wow. I might have to say I liked her performance. And predictably, Nicole and Paula not so much. Simon called them catty and said they were biased against her.

Melanie will take the stage and sing last. And she nails it. Wow. What a voice. How could he have let her go and picked some of the other girls over her? The judges all love her too. Nicole makes her cry.

Who should Simon send home?

Who WILL Simon send home? He might keep someone around just to prove a point.

Simon is sending home Simone and Tiah.

Melanie, Drew and Rachel get to move on to the top 12. Did they get the Top 12 right???
