So, it’s time to finally crown a winner of the X Factor US premier season. The $5 million and the Pepsi commercial will be awarded to Josh, Melanie or Chris. Get your bets in right now…who do you think will win?
The top 12 contestants all come on stage and perform Lady Gaga’s On the Edge. Some in the group sound a bit off…we can now see why they went when they did! The last few voted off still sound great. I wonder how their lives have fared since being voted off.
But, it’s early and we will have to stall a lot until it’s winner time. Simon introduces Melanie, who sings Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You. And sounds almost exactly like her! She rocked that song! Then there is a clip from her friends, family members and it is touching. Melanie can’t even speak at the end she is so moved.
Chris is singing next and how emotional will his video clip be? He sings Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. The song fits him, and he makes it his own. The judges all liked his version. Will Chris get the sympathy vote, because people like to see underdogs win? His video clips include friends, therapists and family members. The one from his son made him cry. How nice for him. What a way to turn around his life and get this opportunity.
Josh gets a turn and what will he sing and tear up the stage with? A perfect song for him, and the holiday. Please Come Home for Christmas. The girl in the snowglobe is a nice touch…but his soul – jazzy version takes the cake. Nice job. Of course, the judges gush over his version. And proves he is a contender. His videos include messages from friends, his mom, his daughter, classmates. Can the burrito slinger from Ohio win?
Get your guesses in again…who will pull it out? Everyone sounded awesome yesterday and then again today…
The third place act will be revealed after a performance from Justin Bieber. A Justin and Stevie Wonder duet! How sweet was that?
Now, for third place. Who is it going to be?
OK, not yet. Justin does another song – Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town. And at the end, he pulls Drew from the side of the stage and they sing the last chorus together. Drew looks a little overwhelmed with Justin and the confetti.
Now, can we get a third place?
The third place act is – Chris Rene!
Do you think he will have a recording contract tomorrow anyway? I think yes.
A little confusion on the stage, so we have another commercial! Ugh! Do we actually get to find out the winner next or will there be more star performers?
Leona Lewis – an X Factor UK winner – takes the stage to sing. Her life has been changed in a big way since she won!
Now, do we finally get to get a winner?
Fifty Cent is performing. We have another half an hour to wait with commercials and flashbacks to get to a winner? And it’s a good thing it is later, since there are writhing girls in bathtubs and on couches. Hmmm. And are those basketball players or why the casually dressed men on stage? Confusing. And they go and sit in a leather chair to watch. Good thing he isn’t a contestant, because Simon would have crushed him when critiquing the performance for it being too busy and confusing. The good thing is he pulls Astro on the stage to collaborate with.
Then we get the cry off clips between Nicole and Paula. Funny.
And another performance…Pitt Bull and Ne-Yo. It’s more organized than Fifty at least. They bring out Marcus to perform with them and he looks like he is having fun.
Melanie and Josh get to perform a duet before they announce who the winner is. Different song, but they each handle their parts well.
This just came across the wire – there was an accident right before 50 took the stage. Maybe that is the reason for his mess on stage…??? Three stagehands were injured when some set stairways decided to go crazy.
But back to the duet on hand. It was meh. They want to know already. Let’s get this over with! But it’s commercial time…then we find out. Josh or Melanie???
We’re back on stage. Another dress change and we get to hear it! The WINNER is Melanie Amaro!
Melanie – who was cut off in the very beginning! Melanie Amaro is the first X Factor US winner.
