“The Voice” Recap: Who’s in the Final?

NBC last night revealed its four finalists on “The Voice” amid tears and promises of undying friendship, no matter what the results were.

Yeah right. But what we really want to know is who made it into the final, isn’t it?

This show combined coaches’ scores and America’s votes registered every which way possible – online, via phone, iTunes song downloads.

If they could figure out a way to get a sponsor for it, you could vote that way. We’re hoping Guinness gets in on the action next season. NBC tried to convince us that there was some scientific way to equate the millions of votes that came in for the artists and the random numbers coaches came up with to make up for the other half of the decision. NBC, the bar graphs didn’t fool us. Maybe, next season the show could come up with a more transparent way for the coaches to hand out their scores.

But here’s how the eliminations went down:

Vicci Martinez beat Nakia

This was a tough one, with both singers good enough to advance to the final. Cee Lo gave Nakia the slight edge in his vote: a 51 compared to Vicci’s 49. His reasoning was that the drums seemed to overpower her voice sometimes. However, he said that he watched the televised version and she sounded fine. So, if he were able to change his score, he would give them both an equal 50. In the end, America’s votes gave Vicci the win.

Javier Colon beat Casey Weston

This was a no-brainer. Adam Levine played it stategically here. He knows that Javier is his only chance to win this competition. So he gave Casey a despicable 35 and Javier a 65. Even for Casey, that was mean. But America voted overwhelmingly for Javier too so no harm done.

Dia Frampton beat Xenia

Blake Shelton (the big old softy) seemed extremely proud and appreciative of both singers and gave them a 50-50 split. America then pushed Dia on to victory.

Beverly McClellan beat Frenchie Davis

I’ve had a soft spot for Frenchie since her “American Idol” days so it is tough for me to admi that Beverly is probably the stronger performer of these two. Christina was torn too. She couldn’t bring herself to choose one over the other and felt she should leave the decision up to America giving them each a 50. And the viewers decided their finalist is Beverly. Good luck Frenchie, we know you’ll be back somewhere, someday…

So, America chose Vicci Martinez, Javier Colon, Dia Frampton and Beverly McClellan as their finalists. Was it the group you were hoping for?
