It is alleged that Joe the 42-year-old husband of reality TV star Teresa Giudice pretended to be his brother, Pietro, to get a driver’s license in June 2010 after his own was suspended following a DWI five months earlier. Officials say he fraudulently used his younger brother’s marriage and birth certificates to obtain the license.
Unfortunately, the game was up 2011 when Pietro was stopped by the police and Joe’s image came up in the officer’s search.
Joe spent 10 days in custody in connection with driving without a license two years ago, a stint he compared to a vacation but now he is faced with a much longer stay behind bars. The reality TV star has already refused a plea bargain of five years imprisonment. He is being represented by Clifton, New Jersey attorney Miles Feinstein, who claims his client is being harshly punished because he is famous.
“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” star is due back to court on February 25 for a status update hearing where the judge will determine a trial date, but Giudice’s attorney says he has a rock solid defense, which he vows will prove the innocence of his client. And Teresa is expected to be the star witness.
“We are going to trial,” the attorney vows. “These charges and the threat of state prison are ridiculous for this event. I’ve said it all along, but it is because of Joe’s celebrity status that this hasn’t been resolved already.”
Wonder what Teresa Guidici will have to say on the matter?
