The Biggest Loser 2011 Recap: Payback!

It’s week 10 of the weight loss challenge and the teams were asked to choose captains. Marci was a sure-fire winner for the Black team captaincy as she’s unofficially led them all the way so far. Justin was chosen as the leader of the Reds. Their jobs were to choose a chef for the week and two people to work out with the trainers all week.

Marci picked a great cook in Olivia and the sweety made up for having less time to exercise by getting team-mates to bring her exercise equipment to the kitchen, when others in her position might have just snacked out all week. It’s difficult to decide whether Hannah and Sarah were the lucky ones, working out with the trainers all week. Boy did they get a workout! Sarah was happy, accepting that it would ease her anxiety about working with the new trainers after switching from the red team but Hannah took the decision personally, thinking her team were telling her she needed it the most. She knuckled down, though.

Justin sent Kaylee and Ken to the workout, for obvious reasons. Both had low weight loss last week when they went home. It did give them time to reflect on that, though. The faces of the trainers when only part of their expected team arrived provided some of the best moments of the show. Ken wouldn’t have been our first choice as their chef but he did well.

On to the challenge: the teams had to cross a pool of mud via small stepping stones, avoiding several obstacles. Every time they touched the mud, all the team had to return to the last obstacle. I was case of the hare and the tortoise; the Red Team raced to an early lead, but the Black Team kept up a slow and steady pace and triumphed in the end.

Everyone brought their A-games to the last chance workouts. The weigh in initially looked good for the Red Team when Marci, the first to weigh in, had lost 5lb. But it was the team challenge all over again and it eventually went he black Team’s way. That foiled Marci’s altruistic plan to put herself forward for elimination is the Reds had won but with her great weight loss, she won immunity.

So, it was payback time! Sarah, the newest member of the team, last week effectively sent Arthur home by switching sides. So, with some candy-coating, her team returned the favour and eliminated Sarah this week.

Back at home, Sarah was looking good but planning to gain weight again: through pregnancy! Previously anxious about working out, the new Sarah has tried martial arts and rock climbing for the first time!

How do you think this week’s captains did? Did you agree with their decisions and were they right to send Sarah home?
