‘Bachelorette’ Emily Maynard has always made it clear that her main priority is her 6-year-old daughter, Ricki, and on tonight’s episode, she learns the hard way that fatherhood isn’t as important to her potential suitors as she hoped.
Alessandro and Kalon both tell they they are not necessarily ready to let Emily’s daughter into their lives, should they be the guy she chooses. So of course, they can’t be the guy she chooses. Can they?
“I don’t have a lot of experience with kids. You’ve got to teach me,” Alessandro told Maynard before declaring that fathering her little girl would be a “compromise.”
Emily shoots right back at that comment with,
“You see that as a compromise and not an honor? Me having a daughter isn’t a compromise and anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever,” Maynard tells the 30-year-old grain merchant coldly.
But things got heated with Kalon, who has so far been pretty vocal on his views on fatherhood.
“I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life…it’s not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid,” he boldly admits to the Charlotte, N.C. single mom.
Emily is understandably shocked by this. She urged the bachelor to think of his own mother, herself a single parent. Kalon barely let her get a word in before interrupting with,
“I love it when you talk, but I wish you’d let me finish.”
Thankfully, Emily doesn’t let him get away with that.
“I love tall, skinny and funny, but I don’t love tall, skinny and condescending!”
‘The Bachelorette’ airs Monday at 8 p.m. (EST). I cannot wait to see these two altercations!
