On Monday night’s group date with the guys, Ben was questioned about his intentions for being on the show. Is he on “The Bachelorette” for love or other reasons? Mikey Tenerelli said on the show what he thought about his fellow “Bachelorette” contestant.
“He comes off as not being genuine,” Mikey said. “There is realness missing.”
That’s kind of a sad observation given the fact Ben had his 4-year-old son join him in the meet and greet episode the week prior. As fans will recall, the boy was the first to step out of the limo and offer Desiree a rose. Ben got the first impression rose right away.
After the group date, Mikey wasn’t thrilled that Desiree handed Ben another rose.
“The fact that Ben got a first impression rose and now he gets a rose tonight,” Mikey said. “It hurt, it definitely hurt. I just don’t think Des is looking for a guy like that.”
Later on in the evening on week 2 of “The Bachelorette” 2013, Desiree was talking privately to Michael Garafola. Ben rudely stole Desiree away during their discussion regarding a medical condition Michael has.
“Why can’t you just wait until the end?” Mikey angrily asked Ben. “You see [Michael] talking, why didn’t you just turn around?”
Ben refused to see where he went wrong in his actions.
“The example he’s setting for his son is if you make a mistake, you lie about it.” Michael said.
Chris Harrison, the show’s host, felt the tension was getting bad enough, that he had to bring it to the men’s attention in the house. He didn’t necessarily see it as bad thing, however.
“Just the second week and already there is drama here in the house, but I take that as a good sign that you guys are taking this very serious,” Harrison said.
