Emily Maynard is arguably the most beautiful woman to be “The Bachelorette,” but contestant Ryan Bowers let her know not even SHE is an exception to losing her sex appeal if she let herself go. On week 3 of “The Bachelorette” 2012, Ryan stupidly told her that if she got fat after they got married, he would still love her — he just wouldn’t love on her as much. Ouch. That was a dumb thing to say and Emily said as much. The athletic trainer said it in front of Emily’s other friends — who all thought that showed a lot of nerve. Emily wasn’t impressed and said herself it was a “bad move” on Ryan’s part.
No woman wants to hear her man tell her if she gets lazy and gets fat on him that he won’t be “loving on her as much.” It’s not a secret men don’t want their women to get fat on them once they’re married or have gone out a long time, but when a guy has only a few shots with the woman he wants a chance with, he doesn’t tell her that.
Is it even possible for someone like Emily Maynard to get lazy and fat on her husband? The answer would be a collective no on that one. “The Bachelorette” 2012 definitely has some bizarre men within the cast. It just goes to show that not even the most desired bachelorette on TV can escape the degrading ideals some men have about women. It’s the first time fans have seen someone put conditions on Emily over her appearance. Although Ryan was joking around when he said that to Emily, he wasn’t joking around about what he meant. What he said will stick in her mind because women don’t forget comments like that. Their body image is everything to them.
Ryan is lucky he wasn’t eliminated in week 3 of “The Bachelorette” for just being clueless, if anything. Emily had a hard enough time with the other men — such as Tony, Kalon, and Alessandro. None of them were ready to be fathers and Emily has a lot to check-off on her list as a mate. So far, it’s been a challenge for Emily to hit it off with the right man.
