Emily Maynard admits she may have misunderstood Brad Womack’s words when she heard he said that he “dodged a bullet” getting out of their relationship. The 2012 “Bachelorette” star didn’t know how to take Brad’s seemingly harsh words when she first heard them, but after seeing the context in which he conveyed his feelings, she’s cutting him some slack.
On Wednesday Maynard paid a visit to “Access Hollywood” and revealed what her initial thoughts were after her ex-fiance’s interview.
“At first, my feelings were really hurt, because we left everything very civil and I’ve never said a bad word about him,” Emily said. “But, knowing Brad, he didn’t mean it that way. That’s what I want to say.”
The “dodged a bullet” statement surely played out in Emily’s head for a while. It’s true that the woman who signed on to be the first ever single mother on “The Bachelorette” hasn’t said a bad word about Brad publicly. In fact, she stood up for him during her July 15, 2011 televised interview with “Bachelor” host, Chris Harrison. She sternly said that she has nothing but respect for Brad and that she won’t tolerate anyone thinking badly of him. By the sounds of how things went down between them after she was his pick on “The Bachelor” 2011, Emily wasn’t sure Brad could deal with the solid commitment she needed for not only herself, but her daughter, Ricki. In no way was that a slam against Womack, but a factual statement on her end of two people being at two different places in life.
Emily Maynard isn’t completely sure what Brad Womack meant in his questionable statement, but she’s going with the belief that he didn’t mean anything against her. Brad added in his interview that he hasn’t been dating because he’s hard at work. He and his two brothers recently purchased a fourth bar in the Houston area, so splitting his time between there and Austin will be time-consuming.
In the meantime Emily is moving on with a house full of handsome bachelors competing for her heart on “The Bachelorette”!
