The Amazing Race 2012 Recap: Season 20 Episode 6 This Is Wicked Strange

Last week’s episode of The Amazing Race 2012  saw the teams head toBavariawhere teams scour King Ludwig’s quarters in the same castle that served as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s castle, and tempers flare during one Team’s walk through a snowy labyrinth.

At the end of the show Nary & Jamie and Kerry & Stacy were the last two teams heading to the pit stop. Nary & Jamie were team number seven to arrive at the pit stop Kerry & Stacy were eliminated.

On last night’s show the race arrived inAzerbaijan, where teams took part in a helicopter-evacuation training exercise. At a Detour, they had to scrub excess oil off some very hairy bathers.  Two tTeams hit the hay to see how well they stacked up and some broke out the sponges for an oily detour during the series’ first-ever trip toAzerbaijan.

CBS announced this week that the finale of The Amazing Race will airSunday May 6th, 2012.

But last night we traveled over 2000 miles fromBavariatoBeku,Azerbaijan, to find the fire temple,TempleAteshgah, to get their next clue.

Rachel & Dave were the first team to arrive at the temple, and found a sign on the door that read “Open atSunrise”. The rest of the teams arrived and started dancing with the locals outside the temple.

At sunrise, teams entered the temple to get their clues. A Fast Forward was offered, where teams had to unload 150 bails and the first team to complete the task won. Teams not going the Fast Forward had to head to “Occupational Training International”.

Rachel & Dave and Joey & Danny tried the Fast Forward task. Art & JJ were the first team to arrive and get their clue: a Roadblock, “What comes up, must come down”. Teams had to tackle a helicopter crash simulation, under water. Meanwhile, Rachel & Dave won the Fast Forward and made their way to the pit stop. Joey & Danny need had to head to the training facility with the other teams and to the old town ofBeku to find an old carpet shop.

Rachel & Dave were the first team to arrive at the pit stop. As the winners of this leg of the race, both of them won a brand new Ford Taurus.

The crash simulation didn’t cause anyone problems, except Ralph & Vanessa. Vanessa hates small spaces and being underwater and unfortunately she was the one that had to complete this task.

Teams then had to choose between “apples” and “oil. In “oil”, teams had to head to NaftlanHealthCenterand use a metal shoehorn to scrap the oil from a bather’s body. Art & JJ were the first to arrive and I loved their look of shock to find some hairy dude they had to clean off. Bopper & Mark were the next team to arrive, with Brendon and Rachel R. behind them.

In “apples” teams had to search on old car and rummage through a ton of apples to find one specific apple marked with a race flag. Nary & Jamie were the first team to try it out. Joey & Danny were the next team to try, while Vanessa and Ralph finished the task.

Art & JJ were the first team to head to the pit stop, followed by Bopper and Mark then Brendon and Rachel R. Nary & Jamie found their apple and headed to the pit stop.

Joey and Danny were running way behind, having just arrived at the carpet shop.

Art & JJ were second to arrive at the pit stop, followed by Bopper & Mark, Brendon & Rachel and Nary & Jamie as team number five.

Vanessa & Ralph lost their cab drive, which was lucky for Joey & Danny who finished up their “apple” task quickly. It was Vanessa & Ralph.

That meant Joey & Danny were the last team to arrive and so were eliminated from the race.

In the next episode, in two weeks, teams head toAfricaand the claws come out between Rachel R. and Vanessa.
