The trouble in the marriage of reality TV stars Russell and Taylor Armstrong was not a new thing. It is alleged that he had been abusing his wife for years and that friends had urged her to leave him long before she actually did, just a few weeks before he hanged himself.
Friends of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong begged her to leave Russell after he repeatedly abused her physically. They tried to stage an intervention to get her away from his abuse.
However, it was only in July of this year, when Taylor Armstrong filed for divorce from her estranged husband Russell that allegations of his physical abuse against her surfaced publicly. Apparently, though, her close friends had known all about it for several years.
Almost two years ago, a few of Taylor Armstrong’s closest friends got together to try to shake her out of her denial about the abuse. But apparently, like many women in abusive relationships, especially when they have children, she really thought she was doing the right thing in trying to hold her family together.
At times, Taylor’s friends actually witnessed Russell being aggressive and physically abusive towards her. They also knew of many other instances of abuse because of the bruises she tried to cover up or the times she admitted it to friends. Of course, they were angry and tried to intervene.
Russell (47) hanged himself in the bedroom of a friend’s home on Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles on August 15.
Prior to his suicide, Russell and Taylor Armstrong were going through a divorce, had massive financial problems, including debt and lawsuits against them and he was worried about the revelations of his bisexuality and many affairs with men that were thought to be in the tell-all book that Taylor Armstrong is writing.
Add to that Russell Armstrong’s depression and the stress of preparing for a new season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and it culminated in his suicide, a coroner concluded.
The hit Bravo TV show premiered this past Monday night and sources close to Taylor reported that she was deeply moved by the heartfelt comments that each of the Housewives made regarding Russell’s suicide on the show.
