The American Idol auditions last night found their way to Aspen, Colorado and there were some great performances, alongside the Magic Cyclops guy. Let’s take a look at some of the most memorable ones.

Haley Smith is eighteen-years-old, has three jobs and loves nature. I loved her voice as she sang Tell Me Something Good. Great control and something different.  that she is a must to stay on this show. “Right out of my era,”

Angie Zeiderman is a waitress who wants to be best friends with Lady Gaga. It is sad that someone can get to 25 and still believe that is possible. The show tune, When You Got It, Flaunt It from The Producers immediately turned off Randy Jackson… and me. She seems very musical theater to me but she is put through.

Alanna Snare, a 22-year-old bartender and waitress, serves Rocky Mountain Oysters (depp friend bull calf testicles, just to save you Googling it.) Other than the fact she murdered Jolene, made famous by Dolly Parton ‘nuff said.

Shelby Tweten (17) from Minnesota who suffers from bipolar disorder, and is keen to show she is not defined by this condition. I loved her husky voice on Carrie Underwood’s Temporary Home.

Jairon Jackson drove me nuts but he still got through. After he sang an original song and got a golden ticket from the judges, he accidentally tore it and broke a light bulb. But I’ll forgive him because he has an R&B voice as smooth as silk.

Jenni Schick was crazy. Did she really say she’s a music teacher? She sang  Pat Benatar’s Heartbreaker. She gets three yeses but I don’t agree. Seriously; listen to her  on the line “Don’t you mess around.” Please, guys; listen before she gets any further.

Tealana Hedgespeth said she has been living in her talented twin sister’s shadow for 19 years. Awwwww! But then she started singing Melissa Etheridge’s Bring Me Some Water. OK. Twin sister’s shadow: I get it now. Find yourself something you’re good at, Tealana; it’s not singing.

Last but by no mans least, we have Magic Cyclops. Oh boy this guy is weird. Thankfully, he didn’t get through to Hollywood, despite feeling responsible for putting Steven Tyler where he’s at right now. “Cause I own several Aerosmith CDs.”

“Aspen has been good to us y’all!” Randy called out as the auditions ended, and thirty-one singers get golden tickets to Hollywood. But even before I knew the Top 24 spoiler, I didn’t think any of them would get too much further.

Thursday night, American Idol 11 travels to Space City: Houston.

You will not even have seen some of the contestants who make it to the American Idol 2012 Top 24, of course, but some of these folks are familiar faces from earlier seasons. You will have seen those in the Top 42 spoiler we gave you.

Now, thanks to some sleuthing on the part of dedicated American Idol bloggers, we can bring you the American Idol Top 24 for this season: the ones who get to sing in the live shows, so this spoiler is even more exciting.

American Idol fans will of course have a lot to see about the list of contestants making it to the live show. You will notice that early favorites Jane Carrey and Colton Dixon do not make the live shows, for instance. But HeeJun Han and Phillip Phillips do.

So what is your opinion on this American Idol 2012 Top 24 spoiler list?

Country singer Scotty, who was last year’s American Idol champion, urged this year’s hopefuls not to become “stressed out” during the process.

The Trouble With Girls singer said he made the mistake of ettinbg stressed out by the Fox reality TV contest a few times in his season. But he stressed that the contestants are “just there to sing, have fun, and really entertain the crowd.”

Scotty said he would advise new contestants not to let the TV aspect of the competition to get to them or otherwise they would not be able to sing and entertain the audience to the best of their abilities.

He said the way to achieve success on the show was to “stay laid back, get your songs right, work hard, and you’ll be set.” Scotty McCreery was certainly known for being pretty laid back in his American Idol season.

So who of the American Idol 2012 contestants does Scotty think are in with a good chance of winning?

Of course the teenager name-checked David Leathers Jr, who as we previously told you appeared alongside Scotty in a singing competition before American Idol. But he also has his eye on brother-and-sister duo Schyler and Colton Dixon, who he met at season ten’s Hollywood Week.

Scotty recently said that he was looking forward to watching the new season of American Idol because he would be able to understand what the contestants are going through. But it would be a very different experience watching them this year.

McCreery’s debut album Clear As Day was recently certified platinum. He is currently touring with Brad Paisley.

We have the American Idol 2012 Top 42 for you right here and there are a couple of names that you will probably remember from last year’s season.

Scott Dangerfield and Michael Colton Dixon are back!

Scott Dangerfield wowed fans during his audition but he disappeared from our screens at that point. We later learned he withdrew from the show. The 22-year-old teacher felt that his commitment to his students should take precedence over his American Idol dreams.

Michael Colton Dixon made it all the way to the Green Mile episode and fans were left shocked when he didn’t make the final cut. Both are getting another shot this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if both make it to the live rounds.

American Idol 2011, season 11 begins tomorrow, and the pressure is on for this year’s contestants to live up to the phenomenal success of last year’s finalists.

Casey Abrams has signed a deal with Concord Music Group, who also represent the legendary former Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney. That makes him one of seven acts from last season to gain a contract as Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone and Pia Toscano have also secured record deals. McCreery, Alaina and Durbin all have albums out already.

Abrams (20) was a firm fan favorite and finished sixth in the competition. His last performance was I Put A Spell On You, a track he had performed in the semi-finals.

That exit was by no means the end for Casey’s music career. And he’s very, very happy about the record deal. He posted a And he’s very, very happy about the record deal. He posted a YouTube video of himself singing,

“I’m going to make you music that you can’t get out of your head/For those lonely days when you can’t get out of your bed/I think it will be pretty good/I won’t make it too Hollywood.”

He titled the 90 second clip  as Signed!

Abrams’ new label Concord is well known for a history of jazz performers, which will fit well for Casey’s soulful style; however, they can also boast former Beatle Paul McCartney as a client. He will be releasing his new album Kisses From The Bottom on February 7th.

The new season of American Idol premieres over two nights on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19 on Fox.

Durbin and Lowe married at an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends on New Year’s Eve (December 31) in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains, the singer’s spokesperson reported.

The couple also a joint statement to the People website, which read,

“We are so in love and happy that we got to share our special day with our closest family and friends.”

They called their wedding the “perfect way” to celebrate the New Year and looked forward to a long and happy life together. It was all in keeping with the small intimate wedding that James said a few weeks ago that he wanted.

Some of James’ American Idol pals were in attendance. Casey Abrams, Stefano Langone and Haley Reinhart were all there as was Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate who sang for the newlywed couple.

Durbin and Lowe have been going steady for several years and they have 2-year-old son called Hunter. He was the ring bearer for the ceremony. Now tell me you don’t think that’s just adorable!

James Durbin released his first studio album Memories of a Beautiful Disaster in November.

Scotty McCreery has won his first music award since being crowned the American Idol champion. He was given the prize for Artist of the Year: New Artist at the 2011 American Country Awards. 

American Idol winner Scotty is currently deciding his college plans, but is said to be set to continue with his music career alongside his education and make the most of the opportunity afforded to him by his AI win.

In November, McCreery said he is looking forward to watching the new season of American Idol – which premieres on January 18 next year – because he will understand what the new contestants are going through.

At the American Music Awards Scotty performed his latest song, The Trouble With Girls, before thanking his fans for voting for him.

“Thank you all so much,” he said. “This is my first award. Thank all you guys, you got me through American Idol,” before a birthday shout-out to his mother.

Congratulations Scotty McCreery on your first music award, Best New artist at the American Country Awards.  But I would like to think it wouldn’t be his last!

Lauren  is in good company this week as she joined fellow America Idol contestant Scoty McCreery, who beat her into second place, on the embarrassing singing gaffe. Even huge stars like Christina Aguilera have had problems with the National Anthem, though; at last year’s Super Bowl she actually sang the wrong lyrics to The Star-Spangled Banner, but kept singing. Yesterday, Lauren went completely silent for about five seconds in the middle of the song.

She sang with feeling up to “What so proudly we hailed, through the twi…” and then she trailed off into silence.

Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin Malone on NBC comedy “The Office,” was one of the many fans to see her mistake live and he Tweeted about it, quickly propelling her name into a top 10 Twitter trends!

“Oh Lauren Alaina… Poor you. Poor poor you….,” he wrote.

But Lauren quickly recovered and jumped back in on the line,

“Whose broad stripes and bright stars…”

Her smile never left her face and the sell-out crowd cheered loudly. As FOX’s Joe Buck, the TV announcer for the game, said,

“It’s all about how you finish.”

But Lauren Alaina owned up with dignity to her mistake. She Tweeted,

“I’m not a robot. I have No excuses. I messed up. You know what can ya do? At least didn’t fall down again.”

Nice comeback, don’t you think?

The embarrassing gaffe happened as Scotty (18) missed his cue to start singing his latest single, The Trouble With Girls. The trouble with his performance was that the soundtrack had already begun before the singer began his miming.

Wearing a warm winter coat and red-scarf, Scotty was introduced to the screaming crowd by an announcer who yelled “And here to sing The Trouble with Girls, it’s the bigger than life reigning American Idol champion, ladies and gentleman Scotty McCreery.” But that’s when things started to go wrong.

His voice filled the Manhattan streets while Scotty stood looking stunned. That left Scotty a good couple of seconds behind the music as he mimed the lyrics.

Now, you all know that I love Scotty. I really do. But he had to play a quick game of catch up to try to cover his mistake. And with an estimated 50 million people watching the show on TV, his mistake was obvious to everyone.

All the artists lip-synch for the parade in New York, but Scotty McCreery’s mistake was made all the worse because all the other stars who performed at the event this year, including Cee Lo Green, Mary J. Blige and Avril Lavigne, all performed with no problem at all.

The Macy Parade lip syncing gaffe is a second embarrassing mistake for Scotty on a big occasion. He also allegedly forgot the words to the Star Spangled Banner at the World Series! But I still love him and he’s had a lot less practice at lip synching than those other guys so I’ll forgive him – will you?

Casey and Haley both appeared on season ten of the Fox TV singing competition which was eventually won by Scotty McCreery. Abrams was eliminated eighth and Reinhart was the eleventh contestant to get kicked out on the public vote.

Throughout their time on the show there were rumors that the two were dating each other. Now they are making sweet music together.

Their jazzy style duet was released earlier this year. Haley said she grew up singing the song so it is one of her favorite Christmas songs.

Reinhart signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/Interscope Records earlier this year, making her the fourth finalist on the tenth season to secure a deal following McCreery, runner-up Lauren Alaina and Pia Toscano.

She previously told reporters that she was hoping to release an album that was “sultry, bluesy rock,” adding, “I also love jazz so if I can get more into that in the future I’d love to do that. I’m definitely loving that feel.”
