Survivor 23: South Pacific Upolu Tribe Shows No Trust

Savaii gets back after their last challenge from the week before and gets their reward, which is swimsuits! Nothing like showing off a bit more skin for ratings.

Jim and Cochoran take off for a challenge. Brandon and Edna were representing Savaii. Then Papa Bear and Christine emerge as the people that are fighting to get back in the game. Both tribes watch the residents of Redemption Island fight it out for their place in the tribe. Christine lands her bean bags right in a row and is way ahead of Papa Bear, but he catches up and she ultimately pulls it out. Papa Bear goes home and Christine makes it back in the game and stays at Redemption Island. But then Jim, Cochoran, Brandon and Edna go back – without Christine or joining in any game themselves. Strange.

The Savaii tribe seems to be getting along, until the members all comment on Edna. They can’t stand all of the questions she asks or the laugh. That laugh! It’s annoying. It seems like there might be some strategizing going on to either get rid of Elyse, Ozzy or someone else from that group. Cochoran and his alliance are trying to make their numbers a little more even.

Time for immunity! It’s the weight and a physical challenge. Three people for each team have to bear weight and the rest of the team picks who gets the weight for the opposite team. The last person standing wins immunity for their entire tribe. To mix it up, there needs to be two men and one woman from each tribe to bear weight. Twenty six minutes passes and Brandon and Jim are loaded at 200 pounds. Then more weight gets added. Albert goes down. That leaves two women and two men! Jim and Brandon each bear 220 pounds. Then 240. Dawn and Stacy have been forgotten about, but they are still holding their weight. For a second.

It’s a battle of the women. Dawn struggles and Stacy still holds tight. 20 more pounds. Stacy drops her weight. Savaii wins! Their reward also includes chickens and a few other supplies.

Now Upolu gets to strategize. Who are they going to send to Redemption Island?

Edna starts to talk again. And Stacy is annoyed by it. She hasn’t talked to her up to this point, but suddenly she wants to strategize? Edna fears she will go home because she is a weak physical link. Is she right? But then Coach comes over to talk Stacy and he annoys her too. Stacy tells Brandon to watch out for people strategizing. Which is a mistake. We all know Brandon is a loose cannon.

Brandon goes straight to Coach. Coach snaps at him and says it will get even crazier if he believes everything people tell him. People realize they need to shuffle since Brandon is a loose cannon and he could jeopardize it for everyone!

Tribal Council comes to an emotional head when Brandon says he wants to redeem the family honor. Jeff asks everybody what is the most annoying thing about another person and gets some interesting tidbits. Will it change the vote? Probably not. It seems like the shuffling was going to get Brandon out.

Even though Stacey was strong in the challenge, she was blindsided and voted off. Coach tried to hug her, but she walked away. She told Jeff it wasn’t real. She told Jeff everything was a lie. No trust with this group!
