Survivor Redemption Island 2011 Premieres Tonight

The “Survivor Redemption Island” season kicks off tonight at 8pm on CBS. That will cause reality TV fans quite a dilemma as the premier goes head-to-head with the second instalment of Hollywood Week on “American Idol”.

This year’s potential survivors are 18 castaways, including two familiar faces, Boston Rob and Russell Hantz, who get another shot at the million dollar prize. Rob has already had 3 attempts at being the sole survivor and Russell has had 2. In the process, Rob won a record sixteen challenges (which was later beaten by Tom Westman).

Russell’s lying, cheating and manipulation earned him a title, but not the “Survivor” ultimate prize: he won the Sprint “Player of the Game” award at a $100,000 prize.

But still, they are back, in a “Survivor” series where we have been promised some twists and surprises, not least of which is Redemption Island itself, where contestants get a second chance to compete. Rob and Russell also played together in the Villains tribe for the 20th season, “Heroes and Villains”. Let’s see if they carry on their feud.

Survivor spoiler for tonight: the moment they meet tonight is something special and almost immediate – the pair speak about a possible alliance. Are they serious or are they playing mind games? And will you be watching “Survivor” or “American Idol” tonight?
