“Survivor: Caramoan” Season 26 Premiere Trimmed But Here’s What To Expect

The premiere of “Survivor: Caramoan” has been cut from 2-hours to 90-minutes – and no one really knows why.  Season 26 premieres tomorrow, but as yet there has been no official explanation given of the cut. However, there are some things we do know in advance about the premiere and the rest of the season.

On slashing 30 minutes from the “Survivor” premiere the official CBS press release simply states:

CBS has shortened the season premiere of Survivor: Caramoan – Fans Vs. Favorites from 2 hours to 90 minutes. It will now air from 8-9:30 PM on Wednesday, February 13. Update: A Big Bang Theory repeat will air at 9:30pm.

The spring edition of SURVIVOR will feature the return of one of The Game’s greatest pairings: Fans vs. Favorites. Ten ultimate SURVIVOR fans will have the chance to prove they have what it takes when they take on 10 of their favorite players from the past.  Dropped on the exotic Caramoan Islands, the 20 castaways will be divided into two tribes of 10: “The Bikal Tribe,” made up of former players deemed favorites, and “The Gota Tribe,” comprised of ultimate fans of The Game. The Favorites may have an edge because of their experience, but they also have a big target on their backs. Meanwhile, the Fans, although inexperienced, can draw on their extensive knowledge of The Game to give them an advantage. Who will prevail when these tribes collide and the castaways vie to outwit, outplay and outlast one another for the title of Sole Survivor and the one million dollar prize?

So what do we know about the upcoming season of “Survivor”?

The first thing is to say don’t assume that the former players will out-manouver the fans. Several spoilers suggest that there may be some new favorites-in-the-making among this season’s new faces and many of them do very well.

You can see who makes up the two teams here.

We can expect a pair of hardcore rivals to surface this season – insiders have promised that we’ll see a “fit of rage” from one castaway in result of this rivalry, and rumor has it there might even be a punch thrown!

Unbelievably, someone repeats the mistake made by Colton Cumbie on “Survivor: One World,” with someone convincing their tribe it’s a good idea to go to tribal council even though they win the immunity challenge. In case you’re wondering, it’s still the worst decision ever.

What are your thoughts on CBS’s decision to trim 30 minutes off the premiere episode?  Do you think the move is OK because two hours is too long or are you disappointed the premiere has been trimmed?
