She certainly looks great on the cover of “Rolling Stone” magazine to be published soon. Inside, Snooki, real name Nicole Polizzi, gives a candid interview about how she appears on TV, and some of it isn’t pretty.
“If I do something stupid, which is pretty much the whole time, I hate it,” she told “Rolling Stone”.
She is aware that TV producers edit the show to titillate and her drunken antics entertain the viewers. But, she says, “That’s how I am when I party, but some of the stuff I do is, like, ‘Really, Nicole?’ I look like a freakin’ alcoholic.” As she puts it so succinctly: “I just look like s**t.”
The self-effacing candor of one of the show’s most famous stars is refreshing, but Snooki (sorry, Nicole) isn’t tired of showbiz. She hoped her hard partying and musings, including whether the ocean is salty because of whale sperm, have endeared her to millions. She hopes that’s enough to get her own show after “Jersey Shore”.
She admits can’t get a regular job after “Jersey Shore”. She has a point; how do our reality TV stars return to a regular life after the show ends? Does our celebrity culture support them all through celebrity appearances, spin-offs and parties?
That is the life Nicole, a.k.a. Snooki, intends to lead.
“When Jersey Shore ends I’m going to do more spin-offs. If MTV doesn’t want them, another network will.”
So what can we expect from one of our latest reality TV stars? “Snooki Gets Married”? Nicole has her eyes firmly set on building a reality TV empire as Jessica Simpson has done.
“She makes millions,” Snooki says, and it seems, if she’s only interested in the money, she may do well for herself. Maybe her TV persona is not too far from reality, after all.
