Despite phenomenal success with hits like I Will Always love you and accolades including 22 American Music Awards, Whitney has struggled for many years with drug abuse and her career hit a sharp decline. Her multi-illion dollar fortune has also apparently been depleted as the hits stopped coming and her voice suffered due to drugs, becoming hoarse and raspy. She entered rehab last year for a crack cocaine addiction. At the time, ex-husband Bobby Brow feared she may not survive.
The cause of Whitney Houson’s death is as yet unknown.
While Clive Davis threw his annual pre-Grammy party, which Whitney Houston was to have attended, many fans have gathered outside the hotel to pay tribute to the I Will Always Love You singer by laying flowers and lighting candles.
Davis began the party by saying, “Whitney would have wanted the music to go on, and her family asked that the music go on.”
