Simon Egan’s Oscar Broken by Daughter!

Simon Egan, co-producer of the Oscar-winning film “The King’s Speech” had his prized award defamed, via his 15-month-daughter, Lara.

This is an accident which is sure to haunt little Lara Egan for the rest of her life, through parental chatter at her birthday parties, Dad’s talks with her new boyfriends and his speech at her wedding. It is the moment she dropped her Dad’s Oscar statuette and it was caught forever on camera.

Those things are heavy, you know! So it probably wasn’t a great idea for award-winning producer, Simon Egan to put the award he won for his work on “The King’s Speech” into the tiny hands of Lara Egan. After fumbling with gold statuette a while and seemingly getting bored with it, she dropped it, and it clanged on the rocks, causing a rather large dent!

Dad Egan appeared a little unsympathetic to toddler Lara, we feel. He told British newspaper, “The Telegraph”, “It was a thing of beauty and my daughter has destroyed it, albeit unwittingly.”

But you’ll be glad to know that Oscar’s injuries were not terminal. The statuette was not replaced but was instead booked into “The Oscar Hospital”. Yes, this place really does exist. Come on; this is Hollywood we’re talking about, here; of course it exists! Now Egan has an Oscar that looks as good as new.

But toddler Lara will no doubt grow tired of hearing the “who dropped Daddy’s Oscar” story over the years.
