Simon Cowell Admits Being Too British For X Factor USA

Simon Cowell has admitted that he was excessively cocky and confident when The X Factor USA was launched. He said he made mistakes on the Fox talent show.

Cowell had already admitted to one mistake: his prediction that The X Factor USA would get 2 million viewers in its first series.

The X Factor has sown up pretty strong in the ratings, but it has never got anywhere near twenty million viewers. Also, so far, it has failed to grab the number of viewers that rival Simon Fuller’s American Idol achieved.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of this week’s X Factor season finale, Cowell said that he had overestimated how successful the program would be after a single run.

He explained that he is naturally cocky, and when he hit America with the show he was fresh from a massive hit final of the show in the UK.

Now, he admits that it will take a little longer than he hoped to achieve the success he wants for the show.

Another mistake that Simon Cowell says he made on The X Factor USA was to be too British in some of his song choices.

“I learned that I’m not American,” he said.

That realization has made him change Melanie Amaro’s final song choice too.

“[The song] was too British and too old for her – I’m trying to think American,” he said.

The X Factor finale airs on Wednesday, December 21 and Thursday, December 22 at 8/7c on Fox. So we can all tune in and hear the final song selection for Melanie Amaro and the other contestants tonight.
