Rumors have surfaced that Shepherd had broken the rules by training with Dancing with the Stars professional Maksim Chmerkovskiy several months ago, despite the fact that rehearsals are banned before the official cast announcement is made.
However, Shepherd attempted to set the record straight while appearing on The View.
“First of all, it was incorrectly reported that Maksim Chmerkovskiy is my dance partner. He’s not. His brother Val is my partner. Val and I have never – I say never – we have never danced together. “
She admitted she had a friendship with Val, as she has with all the Dancing With The Stars professionals who appear on her show.
She says she loves dancing and “after choreographing a routine for her wedding reception, she decided to take a ‘handful of classes’ at Maksim’s studio.”
“I’m glad I did, because it showed me if I was up for this challenge of Dancing with the Stars,” she said. “Because I’m going to be honest with you – I’m 169lb, I’m diabetic and I’m pigeon toed. Y’all do not want me falling out on that dancefloor.”
However, Shepherd said that when she took the classes, she had no idea she was going to be appearing on Dancing With The Stars. She said she is very excited to be on the show.
“I’m praying my wig don’t fall off, that I don’t trip and fall, and all of that!”
Sherri Shepherd has previously joked that she will ask Barbara Walters and Bill Clinton to vote for her on Dancing with the Stars. Will you be one of the people voting for her?
