Arnold Schwarzenegger is famous for his Terminator catchphrase “I’ll be back”, but that does not seem to apply to his so far long-lasting marriage. He and his wife, Maria Shriver, have split. She has already moved out of the marital home.
Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had been married to Maria Shriver for 25 years and the former couple have four children together. They led a high profile life as much due to Schwarzenegger’s political work as his Hollywood acting career. So the split may shock many – 25 years is a particularly long-lasting marriage in Tinseltown.
In a joint statement issued last night announcing the split, Schwarzenegger and Shriver said:
“This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us. After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we came to this decision together.”
The statement goes on to say how they will work on their relationship. But they are at this time living apart. They have, however, stressed their commitment to parent their children jointly.
The split has apparently been handled amicably and with a dignity many showbiz stars could learn from. I know we all love gossip, but part of me really hopes the ex-couple are correct when they say that “neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment.”
Is this really is the end for the marriage of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver after so long together? We wish you both the best moving forward.
