Megan Jean Lochte Torrini was heard ranting racist remarks about the Chinese in a 2008 interview after she went to the Beijing Olympics with her Olympic gold medalist winning brother, Ryan Lochte. The remarks were discovered during an on-air conversation she had with Mickey Cucchiella on the talk show, “Closing Time.”
Lochte’s sister basically called the Chinese “chink” about six times in the interview and said they “drive like ninjas.”
“We were there for over a week,” Megan said. “China was chinked out… Chinks everywhere.”
It was a shocking revelation to hear the famous Olympian’s sister say such controversial things about the natives of China – especially given the fact Ryan Lochte was well on his way to becoming a huge Olympic star at the time. It’s amazing what so many of these people don’t realize that what they say catches up with them. Even relatives of world class athletes and Hollywood stars are headline material, so they need to realize what spew off needs a filter.
”We could go in there and take over! But then I don’t know about the commies over there, so…”
She also stated that the Great Wall should be called “f**king huge OCD fence.”
Now that Megan is being called out, she’s justifying why she said such insulting things about the people over in Asia. Her excuse supposedly is she was “portraying” someone of “ignorance.” Not only that, she claimed appearing on the talk show was “not a real interview.” Ryan Lochte’s sister insists she was playing “a character to make fun of ignorance.”
“While the intent of the script was to shed light on cultural ignorance,” Lochte said. “I realize that in application it did offend people, and for that I apologize.”
Megan Lochte needs to give people some credit. Who’s going to really buy that? If she was portraying a character, perhaps she should have made that perfect clear at the beginning of the interview.
