Rosie O’Donnell shared her weight loss tricks after she had a vertical gastric sleeve procedure last August. It’s been almost a year-and-a-half since the 52-year-old former talk show host had a heart attack. The health scare made her re-think her lifestyle patterns when it comes to diet and physical activity.
O’Donnell now lives a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle.
“I’m eating as I’m supposed to. I’m exercising. I lose now about a pound every other week, so we’ll see. My weight loss is good,”Rosie told People magazine.
The comedian opened up about how much weight she’s lost since embarking on this new regime.
O’Donnell continues, “I had the vertical gastric sleeve last August, after my heart attack almost a year before that, and I’ve lost almost 50 lbs. [The surgery] is only a tool. It’s not like a magic pill, but it’s working.”
Rosie O’Donnell a good portion of her weight loss has also been due to the removal of hunger hormones.
“They take out two thirds of your stomach – which holds the hunger hormones – and as a result of that you’re not hungry anymore,” she said. “I’ll go to dinner with my wife, who’s 105 lbs. soaking wet, and we’ll order a petite filet. I’ll have three bites and she’ll finish it.”
O’Donnel said before she would have easily consumed a 20-ounce rib eye steak and not give it a second thought. She maintains that her newly embraced lifestyle has changed her relationship with food. She now weights somewhere in the 180s and wants to lose another 30 pounds to reach her goal weight between 150 and 160 pounds. She’s losing about a pound every other week.
Rosie O’Donnell contributes some of her weight loss to eating a low-carb diet. She’s well on her way to reaching her goal and she looks great!
