Days after announcing her plans to remarry her ex-husband Gregg, NeNe Leakes and her ex-husband/fiance were on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen, talking about their engagement, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” cast-mate Kim Zolciak, and their thoughts on other shows in the franchise.
But the main thing I got out of Sunday’s chat was NeNe saying she “never really wanted to divorce Gregg,” who she was married to for 13 years until they divorced in 2011.
“I believe that as women, we have to stand for something …. I think that we teach men how to treat us,” she said. “I had to stand honey – take it for what it’s worth.”
Sounds good…and maybe husband Gregg learned something, because as well probably know, the couple are set to tie the knot again. NeNe told Jimmy Fallon last Thursday she’d accepted Gregg’s proposal. She and Gregg, 58, have a 13-year-old son together named Brentt, as well as NeNe’s son from a former relationship, Bryson.
As well as her marriage plans, NeNe was asked about Kim Zolciak’s sudden departure from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” but she played her cards close to her ample chest.
She claimed to have no idea why her rival Kim left the show with little warning, and doesn’t know her footballer husband well enough to say whether he influenced her path out the door.
But NeNee says Kim left the show “willingly” and it seems like NeNe is glad.
“The mood definitely changed once Kim left the show, I feel like the girls get along so much better now that she’s gone,” said the former exotic dancer who also said she feels like she “owns” the “Housewives” series.
Her favorite sister city cast is New Jersey.
“My number one housewives are the Jersey girls,” the 44-year-old reality star said. “I like them a lot. I think those b*tches are tough, honey!”
Leakes recently moved to Los Angeles to film NBC’s The New Normal, but has no plans to join “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” saying she still keeps her Atlanta home.
