Pippa Middleton isn’t often criticized or insulted in the press — especially by big names — let alone, fashion designers. The sister of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has been just as famous for her looks as the future Queen of England. The woman dubbed one of Britain’s most eligible singles, took a hard hit from Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld, last week when he openly criticized her appearance. He made the remark that he didn’t like her face, which “devastated” Pippa, a source told England’s Closer magazine.
“Pippa’s devastated by Karl’s cruel comments – she’s always been confident about her looks. But she doesn’t want to retaliate and start a war of words,” the source said. “Her friends have tried to make her laugh about it as Karl is hardly a supermodel himself.”
Lagerfeld noted that Kate is a “romantic” beauty and right for William.
“Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy. I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties.”
Perhaps the most harsh words of the Chanel designer’s opinion was Pippa Middleton should only show her back.
“On the other hand, her sister struggles. I don’t like the sister’s face. She should only show her back.”
Why one of the world’s most renown fashion experts thought it would be a good idea to share such a negative and hurtful view of Kate Middleton’s sister isnt clear. Maybe the 78-year-old feels he had to say something to bring more attention to himself. Anyone who comments on the Duchess or Pippa Middleton gets a lot of press coverage. Whatever the reason, it was downright obnoxious to publicly say such mean-spirited things about her. Pippa certainly has enough admirers of her face and every other part of her to counteract what Karl Lagerfeld said, but she didn’t deserve such a slam against her looks.
