Pippa and three male friends were riding round the streets of Paris when one of the men pointed what appeared to be a gun at photographers.
The incident has caused outrage in the UK and there were fears that the man wielding the gun could face up to seven years in prison and so could Pippa, if she was found to be involved. But Pippa Middleton herself thinks her gun drama is a ‘joke’.
Watch the video below and you will see that the incident with what turned out to be a toy gun is not being taken anywhere near as seriously in France, under whose jurisdiction it took place. It seems that French police are satisfied that the gun was a toy and that there should therefore be no criminal case to answer, leaving Pippa and her toy gun toting friend off the hook.
Marcy de Soultrait, a close friend of Pippa, insists the whole thing has all been blown out of proportion.
The aristocrat, whose brother’s birthday party was the event which Pippa attended in Paris, told the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper:
“Pippa is a very good friend of mine and this gun affair is very silly.
‘It was a children’s toy that the driver had in his car. Pippa thought it was funny. It is fine in France to do that and the police are not investigating. In France there is no problem, just in England. You English think there is a problem, which is crazy.”
Marcy says that this incident with the toy gun is not uncommon in the circle of friends. De Soultrait also insists the photographer the “toy” was pointed at knew it was a fake and wasn’t concerned, despite earlier reports that he wanted to press charges.
However, even if the gun was a fake, those involved could still have faced two years of imprisonment.
Officials for Prince William’s sister-in-law and the royal family have refused to comment on the incident. But the most recent reports suggest that Paris police officials are no longer interested in pursuing the matter. Pippa Middleton must be very relieved.
