Oscars 2012: Judge Meat Loaf Fell Asleep During The Artist

Oscars judge Meat Loaf has admitted he has not watched all of the nominated movies. And he even fell asleep during critically acclaimed The Artist!

The Bat Out Of Hell singer and Fight Club star is a member of the Academy and votes for the award winners. But he admitted he didn’t enjoy The Artist, one of the favorites to take the Best Film award easy to watch, so he didn’t finish it.

“I have a real hard time voting for Best Film, because they’re so different,” he said.

Out of the 60 or s movies he was given to watch he watched around 50 of them. Some even had him falling asleep. They “weren’t my cup of tea and I was falling asleep. That’s nothing against The Artist.”

Meat Loaf (64) also revealed he didn’t vote in the Best Supporting Actress category this year because he couldn’t make up his mind.

“I’m kind of with Viggo Mortensen, (who said) ‘You shouldn’t have awards for art’. I kind of almost agree with that,” he said.

He made it plain that he saw the Oscars as the most important awards ceremony. He thinks it should be before the Golden Globes and others “because they’re too greatly influencing people who vote for Oscars,” Meat Loaf said.

“You can’t really judge art, and that goes back to the old saying: ‘eye of the beholder’.”

Is Meat Loaf right? Should we give up on all movie awards or are you excited for the 2012 Oscars this Sunday?
