There has been much speculation in both the American and British press about who will get the prestigious hosting job. It seems that the gossip mill can keep turning just a little while longer, as there will be a male co-host alongside 32-year-old Scherzinger. Dermot O’Leary, host of the UK “X Factor” is still hoping it will be him after impressive reviews of his UK performance. The announcement of at least one US host is likely to rekindle O’Leary’s hopes, after he had recently said he thought he was unlikely to get the job, as producers would want an American anchor.
Now they have one, and there is another slot to fill.
The signing of Nicole Scherzinger is something of a coup for Simon Cowell because she is managed by his rival, “American Idol” boss Simon Fuller. The deal was negotiated with Nicole’s American label, CAA , to ensure she has a clear schedule when the series launches later in the year.
Scherzinger was originally thought to have been considered for a role on the judging panel of the US “X Factor”, but her “natural” ability in front of the cameras convinced the Simon Cowell (51) to offer her the coveted hosting job instead. Sceptics may place a photograph of Nicole alongside all Cowell’s current and past girlfriends and spot the similarities there. They are plain for all to see! But Nicole does know something of the music business – she is an established singer, both as a solo artist and in a group.
It seems Cowell is also still trying to convince FOX bosses to sign up Cheryl Cole for the judging panel, despite worries over the ‘Promise This’ singer being relatively unknown in the US and the possibility of her accent being difficult to understand. So far, the only confirmed judges are Simon Cowell himself and record producer L.A. Reid but Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul have all been mentioned as possible female judges.
But for now, what do you think about having Nicole Scherzinger host the “X Factor?” Which guy would you like to see co-host with her?
