Modern Family Wins Big At The Primetime Emmys – Who Else Won?

Modern Family was the major winner at last night’s 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre. The popular TV series won five of the awards for which it was nominated: best comedy, best supporting actor (Ty Burrell), best supporting actress (Julie Bowen), best writing and best direction.

There were some surprises on the night, like Melissa McCarthy scooping the best actress in a comedy award for her performance in Mike & Molly. The Best Actor in a Drama award went to Kyle Chandler for Friday Night Lights.

It was second time lucky for Julianna Margulies who won the award for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in The Good Wife which grabbed a lot of critical acclaim.

Kate Winslet scooped the Emmy for the best actress in a miniseries or movie for her role in Mildred Pierce, while Martin Scorsese scooped the award for the best direction in a drama for Boardwalk Empire. Mad Men got the award for best drama series.
