Miss USA fans were anxiously awaiting tonight’s coveted event and the organization did not disappoint this year. Sure, there were quite a few commercial breaks and some of the segments were slightly boring but the addition of Kelly Osbourne to the commentary table added a new dose of flare and honesty. It was refreshing.
Now, let’s get down to the competition.
The pageant was setup a little differently this year. Instead of 15 contestants down to 10, they did 16 down to 8. And, instead of 10 to 5, they did 8 to 4. The Final Four were Miss Texas, Miss Alabama, Miss Tennessee and Miss California.
Simply put, that’s the exact order they were eliminated. Miss Texas was announced as the third runner-up, followed by Miss Alabama. It came down Miss Tennessee and Miss California – who mentioned as they waited for the final results that they are best friends – and Miss California Alyssa Campanella was crowned the winner.
So there you have it. The redhead beauty took home the coveted crown, leaving her best friend in the runner-up position. The good news for Miss Tennessee? These days, Miss USA is no stranger to controversy and chances are Alyssa might have a few secrets she’s trying to hide. If that’s the case and she sparks enough controversy to be dethroned, Tennessee will step up and fulfill the position.
Do you think Miss California will make a good Miss USA? And do you think she will win Miss Universe?
