Miley Cyrus’ latest body art sparked a heated discussion this weekend. The 18-year-old Tweeted a photo of her ring finger with what appeared to be a new tattoo of an equals sign; the photo description said: “All love is equal.”
This equals sign inked on her finger will be her sixth tattoo. She also has a dream catcher on her torso, a heart and a small cross on her fingers, the words “love” behind her ear and “just breathe” on her rib cage.
There is much speculation about the reason for her new body art, a small equals sign on the third finger of her left hand. Most people think it is intended to show her support for gay rights.
When one Twitter follower asked Cyrus, a self-professed Christian, where in the Bible God sanctions homosexuality, she shot back with,
“Where does it say in the Bible to judge others? It doesn’t. GOD is the only judge, honey. God is love.”
However, the singer-actress says you don’t have to agree with her viewpoint. “Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but f you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for everything,” she said.
Cyrus’ support of the gay community is well known. She said that the reason she quit Twitter in October 2009 was partially because of all the negative reactions she got when she spoke out in support of gay rights. “I said on there that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other,” she said. “I got such hate mail about being a bad person.”
This latest Miley Cyrus Twitter debate looks set to get just as heated.
