It is Hollywood’s craziest awards show of the year. So perhaps the First Lady should not have been too surprised when the green goo flew her way.
Covering celebrities in the green slime is a well known tradition of the Kids’ Choice Awards. The First Lady was not directly in the firing line, luckily for her. But she did get caught out.
Well, she was sitting right near the front so she would have needed more than her Secret Service staff to save her completely.
It happened when Will Smith and Justin Bieber were caught in the gooey crosshairs.
Michelle Obama, who attended the awards with her daughters Sasha and Malia, seemed amused by the messy prank. She laughed along with the delighted crowd and was even seen dancing in her seat.
Earlier in the evening, the First Lady gave the ‘Big Help’ award for charity work to Taylor Swift.
Upon receiving the award, the pop star said, ‘I am freaking out.’
The 25th annual Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles were opened by Will Smith and he warned there would be even more goo than usual. It comes from a hidden bucket, dumped from the rafters or exploded from little orange blimps. But it comes. Often, who gets gunged is bigger talk than who wins the Kids’ Choice Awards.
‘No one is safe from the slime!’ screamed Smith at Nickelodeon’s annual celebration for kids, often the most-watched children’s programme of the year. ‘You have to earn the slime! It’s an honour.’
