Michael Jackson’s Mother Slams Estate Executors

Katherine Jackson, Mom to deceased pop legend, Michael Jackson, has slammed the executors of her son’s estate for bringing a lawsuit against his own charity.

John Branca, and John McClain, executors of Michael’s estate, filed a lawsuit against Melissa Johnson and the “Heal the World Foundation” because the Estate did not give permission for Michael Jackson’s name or likeness to be used by the charity.

However, Katherine Jackson has hit back at the executors in a sworn statement. She has pointed out that Michael was involved with the charity before his death and this lawsuit would not have been what he wanted, so it should not be advanced in his name by his executors.

Katherine said, “It is not my desire, nor would it be the desire of my son Michael, to continue this lawsuit against Heal the World Foundation. Michael would be very upset if he knew our charity was being torn down by people who say they are doing what he wanted.”

In an earlier bid to stop this lawsuit, Katherine, Michael’s father Joe and brother Randy Jackson all joined the board of directors of the Heal the World Foundation last year (2010). But executors advanced the case, despite initially giving Katherine to understand that they would withdraw it, once she had made her decision clear to be involved in the charity. She also stressed that Michael’s children were against the executors’ decision.

The case is scheduled to go to trial on Friday, April 29.

She then went on to make a shocking claim: “Nearly two years after my son’s death the estate’s funds are being used to hire lawyers that suppress my family’s ability to support charity, instead of giving away the 20% according to his wishes.”

“Continuing to sue his charity, even a charity that myself and my son’s children support, is only one example, where the estate executors are doing the opposite of what Michael wanted…”

It does seem unfortunate that a charity that Michael Jackson chose to support in life should be denied by lawyers presuming to speak for him after his death, doesn’t it?

UPDATE – Michael Jackson’s estate reached an out of court settlement Tuesday (April 20). The deal came just as a trial was set to begin to decide ownership of lucrative trademarks. In a statement, Jackson’s estate said the settlement calls for it to retain the rights to the Heal the World charity and rights to any trademarks the current foundation held. The remainder of the agreement remained confidential.

Well, I just know its not nice to fuss with an elderly woman who just buried her son, and all these people should be ashamed. As far as who is wrong and who is right, to me they are all wrong and this is a viscous virus and see how it spreads hate. They all need to think from the heart and do whats right. Michael worked himself to the bone all his life. Respect and love is what he gave and what they are giving in return is nasty. Truly I am sad over this behavior.Michael deserves better.

You fans don’t understand. Michael was still invloved with the foundation. So don’t try to speak for him. The name should stay and the foundation should stay. John Branca is a snake, Michael fired him in 2003, and now he’s back in Michael’s life. That’s sneaky.

My understanding is that Michael when he was alive, distanced himself from the “Heal the World” charity because of the strange behavior of its new director which amounted to stalking him. This director immediately upon his death tried to trademark several names including “Michael Jackson.”

Howard Mann is taking advantage of a grieving distraught mother and Michael’s children and the estate is trying to stop this mercenary project. The estate did not act until the children appeared on GMA as part of the contract with Howard Mann.

Read the filing- the lawsuit makes it all very clear.

Why not just the change the name and be done with it maybe the Jackson family can help run it but by a different name in respect of their beloved son and brother and dad as well since his kids sit on the board also. That’s all they gotta do so the media doesn’t have a chance to paint them as a money hungry greedy jerks when it actually the other way around on their part. b/c when a fuse spark add the Jackson’s in it it turns into a media circus .
