Celebrity News and Style told you recently how Cee Lo Green was currently the solo performer signed on the dotted line for the October 8 tribute concert. Now Cee Lo will be joined by Christina Aguilera, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis and Craig David. They have agreed to perform, alongside Alien Ant Farm, who covered Michael Jackson’s hit “Smooth Criminal” in 2001, and UK boy band, JLS, who cite Michael Jackson as one of their musical heroes.
Members of Michael Jackson’s family will also perform at the October 8 concert in Cardiff, Wales. Several of his siblings are expected to perform songs made famous by the King of Pop.
But Jackson brothers Jermaine and Randy presumably will not be there. They have publicly criticized the timing of the concert. They are unhappy that it will coincide with the manslaughter trial of Conrad Murray, who has been charged in relation to Michael Jackson’s death.
Global Live Events, the concert promoters, say that the confirmation of the appearance of Christina Aguilera, Smokey Robinson and others is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be many more performers.
And Michael Jackson fans in the US may not have to make the journey to Wales to enjoy the occasion. There are plans to live stream the Michael Jackson Tribute concert to several major arenas around the United States. Broadcasting of the event on jumbotrons, to give audiences the live concert experience without having to go all the way to Wales (it’s a country in Europe!). This has not yet been confirmed, like so much to do with this Michael Jackson Tribute concert. But the live streaming is expected to get the go ahead.
So the play list is now shaping up nicely, with less than two months to go until the Michael Jackson Tribute concert. Excited yet?
