A man exposed himself to the judges during his “X Factor USA” audition, host Steve Jones has revealed.
The TV presenter told “Heat” magazine that he suspected the man might do something strange before he went on stage. “There was a look in his eye and I knew something was not quite right,” he said.
Simon Cowell and Jones were not too upset by the indecent exposure, though. Apparently, when the presenter said of the incident that they had “just had the best audition ever”, Simon’s response was, “’I agree. It was awesome!”
New host Jones refused to be drawn into discussion of comments made by British “X Factor” host Dermot O’Leary about him.
“I would say I answered my critics when I go the job. End of story. No matter what anybody’s saying, I have no comeback apart from I got the job,” he said.
Dermot O’Leary also revealed that Steve Jones replaced an American presenter on “The X Factor USA.”
O’Leary (38), host of “The X Factor,” will return to present the series later this year. He missed out on the chance to work on the Fox version of Simon Cowell’s competition as he had to confirm his return to the ITV1 show earlier this year.
“I wanted to get the job… I didn’t get the job. That’s about it,” O’Leary said.
He said he had no intention of complaining about a job, when so many people in the UK were unemployed.
“The British show starts so early, so you’ve got to sign very early – so I signed February to start April. The minute I signed that, I thought I’ve probably counted myself out for the job in America, whether I get it or not. That’s the way it worked out,” he said philosophically.
However, Dermot O’Leary confirmed that Jones was only hired to host the US competition alongside Nicole Scherzinger two days before filming began in May. He commented that the host was initially meant to be an American and that didn’t work out, so there was a switch just two days before filming began.
The comments have fueled speculation that plans to have “High School Musical” actor Corbin Bleu take on the role were not well received by “Poison” star Scherzinger.
Scherzinger has since left her role as co-host, replacing axed Cheryl Cole as a judge. Jones has remained as the sole presenter of “The X Factor USA.”
Confused much yet…?
