It’s confirmed. Lindsay Lohan has been offered the role of Sharon Tate in a forthcoming biopic of the infamous Charles Manson. Tyler Shields, the director, says that the actress is currently negotiating a deal to play the murdered model. The only snag might be if she is sentenced to jail for theft and violating probation later this year.
Sharon Tate was murdered in 1969 by Manson and his followers. At the time, she was married to filmmaker Roman Polanski and pregnant with his child. The violence of the crime, the cult nature of Manson’s following and the death of the unborn baby, have helped the killings to go down as legendary in popular culture.
Shields has every confidence that Lohan will sign on for the controversial role, as they have worked together several times in the past. Apparently, it was Lindsay herself who brought up the topic of the drama, entitled “Eyes of a Dreamer”. When Shields suggested that Lohan would be good in the role of Tate, she was apparently enthusiastic, calling the opportunity “amazing”.
Lohan is alleged to have violated her probation by stealing a necklace from a Venice, California jewellery store. Her court case is set for mid-July; that’s just a week after filming is due to start on “Eyes of a Dreamer”.
Shields says that the filming can’t be delayed, so he is just hoping that Lohan will not be jailed and that she will be available for the role of Sharon Tate. But is that just wishful thinking?
